Advanced Mask Making

Mask making invites the creator to explore various aspects of his or her own personality. This process can be quite revealing as it will take the participants out of their realm of words and inspire imagination and nonverbal action. Small Humans ages 10-16 are invited to participate in this two day workshop and dive deep into their personalities. Each participant will create larger than life, highly expressive, mixed media masks. No prior experience is necessary.

Cost- $150 per person with a $75 nonrefundable deposit due at registration. All supplies are provided including a light snack.

Galaxy Watercolor Exploration

Create a scene that’s literally out of this world! Learn how to use watercolor to make a galactic sky full of stars where you can find alien life, UFO’s, and undiscovered planets. Join Abby this summer while she teaches you how to make your own outer space scene! Rocket ships, ringed planets, astronauts and extra terrestrials peeking out of moon craters are waiting for YOU to bring them to life!

Still Life

A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace or man made objects-food, flowers, plants, books, vases or jewelry to name just a few. This is the PERFECT class for the new artist or seasoned artist looking for a refresher. This 3 hour class is designed for small humans ages 6-16 with no previous experience necessary. Participants will be given a staged still life and keeping basic shapes and color as our focus we will first sketch and then paint…ultimately recreating what we see onto canvas.

Mini Camp for Mini Humans

Just for the Mini Creators!!!

Finally, a 2 day class created specifically for the mini humans ages 3-6! Absolutely no prior experience is necessary!! Sign your little ones up for 2 days as we explore the fundamentals of color, composition and contrast! We will create 3 different works of art spread over two days. Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay and participate at no extra charge! We will be using safe NON-toxic Tempra paints that are perfect for mini humans! LSJ Studios can NOT wait for this workshop!!!

Outside the Box – original keepsake boxes

“I don’t think outside the box; I think of what I can do with the box.”

Artists are constantly being challenged to think outside the box. This is the perfect workshop designed to challenge that very thing. Small humans ages 10-16 are invited to (re)create old wooden boxes and turn them into something original, inspired and personal. These keepsake boxes will be a source of encouragement for years to come. No experience is required just an open mind and creative spirit.

Alexander Calder, an American born artist of the 20th century, was known for his playfulness with his art. Well known for his circus rendering, hanging mobiles and imaginative toys, Calder always put a smile on people’s faces,

With Calder as our inspiration and the circus as our theme, students will have an absolute blast creating sculpture with everyday household items such as coat hangers, straws, yarn and pipe cleaners…just to name a few. Let your imagination go wild as you sculpt your favorite animals or your own unique creatures that can’t be found in any zoo! Make monsters, beasts, mermaids, trolls and friendly fantasy creatures! Bound-Artful Journaling

Bookbinding as an art has been around for hundreds of years. In this 2 day workshop participants will learn how to create and hand bind their very own art journals or books. This workshop is perfect for any small human interested in creating, crafting, and/or painting as we will incorporate all of these into a single project. Small humans taking this workshop will forever be able to apply the techniques learned and can be later used for gifts, private journals or art books!

Learn how to look at yourself in a fun new way and exaggerate your features! Everyone has things that make their face unique. Fun w/ Fiber

Fiber art or textiles refers to fine art whose material consists of natural or synthetic fiber and other components, perhaps fabric or yarn. This art form focuses on the materials and on the creative process of the artist as part of the works’ overall significance.

This 2 day workshop is designed for the more advanced small human creators. Students must be at least 10 years old and have a minimum of 24 hours prior studio experience at LSJ Studios. We will create two different pieces of art using fiber as our main component while learning different techniques.
